A lot of drivers are currently toying with the idea of buying an electric car. But what if the car they already own still has plenty of good years left in it? Green tech startup e-REVOLT is targeting exactly that gap: they are working on converting cars with old combustion engines into fully equipped electric vehicles.

The aim is to offer customers an affordable alternative to buying a new electric car — and, of course, to give a second life to cars their owners have grown attached to. The startup is guided by the conviction that continuing to use existing vehicles is the best way to keep the car as an important part of a sustainable mobility ecosystem.

During a conversion, most of the existing vehicle stays in use. That saves money as well as valuable resources, and reduces the carbon footprint of mobility. The straightforward, certified process is carried out at partner garages and comes with a comprehensive warranty for buyers.

Market launch is planned for early 2025, with the conversion set to be extended to many popular vehicle models. We spoke to the founding team about starting the company and their vision for it.

When did you found the company?

We founded our startup e-REVOLT in 2021.

What kind of services or products do you offer?

e-REVOLT is an innovative provider of sustainable mobility solutions. Our patented technology allows cars to be converted into digital, upgradeable electric vehicles within a single day.

What is your vision and mission?

Our goal is to strengthen modern personal mobility by bringing the car into the circular economy. In other words, as a car owner you no longer have to buy a whole new car just to change a few features — whether that is the type of drivetrain, connectivity or driver assistance systems.

Who is your target audience?

Our target audience is everyone who would like to bring their car up to the latest technical standard but does not want to buy a new one. That is where we offer an affordable, fast and unbeatably sustainable alternative.

What does your roadmap look like?

Our first pilot customers have already signed their purchase agreements and will receive their conversions in early 2025. The public market launch will follow at the end of 2025.

How did you come up with the idea for your product?

The idea came from one of our shareholders, who had to change a printer cartridge. With a printer, after all, you just replace the cartridge rather than buying a whole new device. So why did no standardised process like that exist for switching to an electric car? That was the starting gun for e-REVOLT.

How did you hear about beel?

Word of mouth, as is so often the case. One of our shareholders had already been in touch with beel through other startups and pointed us towards the option of a token-based form of participation. The solution sounded interesting, so we started talking to beel.

What made you choose this way of raising capital?

Over the months we received a lot of enquiries about ways to support us and take a stake, from future customers, business partners and other interested parties. The traditional routes — a capital increase, converting into an AG and so on — involve an enormous amount of time and cost in some cases. Token-based participation, by contrast, is a simple, transparent, secure and above all flexible solution. It did not take us long to be convinced.

How did your investors react to the introduction of GmbH tokens?

Our seed investor, Walden Holding GmbH, was very positive about financing through virtual shares. Its owner, Jörg Walden, has been actively engaged with the benefits of tokenisation for many years, including through INATBA, and immediately saw the potential of this innovative solution.
